Kentucky Speedway practice & quals begin today. Most of the weekend-lookahead stories are already posted, a lot of driver-focused stuff today.
On the race itself
Dayton Daily News: Kentucky Speedway offers family-friendly race.
Of note: Mark Cassis says 50,000 tickets have been sold (last year sold 26,000). The grandstand holds 66,000 people.
Good weekend-starters
Indianapolis Star: Rough times for 500-winning cars.
Not only did Dario tear up his 2007 Indy-winner when Dan Wheldon clipped him at Michigan, but Marco Andretti tore up Wheldon's 2005 Indy-winner when he ran over Wheldon. Dario is planning to drive the car that Michael Andretti drove in the 500 this year.
Also from the Star's Pit Pass column, AGR says they made the right call on Danica last week and her tire was indeed going flat.
Cincinnati Enquirer: Young, talented team finds mentor in Kanaan.
TK is the setup brains and "pops" to Marco & Danica. Says TK, "I'm happy because when they do well, in some way I contributed to it."
The "big one", again
Lexington Herald-Leader: Giving new meaning to "Flying Scotsman."
Now it's time for the local guys to get in their "big crash" stories. Also includes a little retrospective of Dario's season and his description (again) of the crash, as well as Les MacTaggart's description of what the roll hoop actually is (remember, Kentucky is on the other side of the Mason-Dixon, home of closed-cockpit racing).
The obligatory Danica stories
Cincinnati Post: Patrick aiming to reach Victory Lane in Kentucky.
Favorite quote: "I can't wait to win, so people will stop talking about it."
Louisville Courier-Journal: When will she win?
Another Danica story. Slap yourself if you've read it before (and you probably have).
Getting more headlines than people who actually drive
While we're on the subject of women in racing, AR1's Tim Wohlford interviews Milka Duno and offers a few of his own opinions. For starters, she explains why she hasn't run any road courses this year, even though that's her background.
And Milka is taking the weekend off to be in a filming of Speed Racer. I guess this means BB doesn't have to park her after 50 laps this week (but if SAMAX was already planning to run this week, why not throw Enge in the car and actually get the sponsors a competitive finish?).

According to their press release, Firestone is planning to use the same tires that were brought to Homestead, Kansas and Texas, with a right-side modification to increase grip.

NON-IRL NEWS
Indianapolis Star: Bourdais headed to Toro Rosso in F1. The Champ Car headliner will replace Vitantonio Liuzzi in the "other" Toro Rosso car at the end of the season, which means someone else will now finally get a chance to win the Champ Car title next year. Sebastian Vettel (who did a nice job in Robert Kubica's absence at Indy) has already replaced American Scott Speed in STR's other ride.
